Don’t say the ‘M’ Word…

2 members of 4th Kingswood guides, along with their 2 guide leaders (Karen & Charli) as well as Vicki and Becky (They are back in those high vis on security again!) attended the Kernow Jamboree this summer.

This international jamboree is held every 4 years at Bodmin in Cornwall and is attended by thousands of guides, scouts, rangers and explorers. The week long camp saw the guides taking part in Kernopoly, Kernow’s very own Monopoly game;  a windy visit to the beach where they learned surfing and body boarding; creative zone, where they helped making the closing ceremony video; adventure zone, which was climbing and rifle shooting and the mud zone, which involved 4×4 driving…. although the whole camp was really a mud zone. Despite the rain (and boy, did it rain) and the torrential mud (yes, it ruined Vicki’s wellie boots!) everyone had a fantastic time (even Becky – despite getting locked in a portaloo!) and everyone was smiling throughout the event, it just goes to show the true guide and scout spirit, we are prepared for anything!
